AI vibe coding for MQL5: turn an EA idea into a tested change
AI makes it easier to explain an idea in ordinary language and explore a code change. Editable source gives that conversation something concrete to work on. The strongest workflow keeps you in charge of the trading rules.
Start with one useful improvement
Choose a change you can describe in a sentence: add a session input, clarify a journal message or introduce an entry spread filter. State what must stay unchanged. A focused brief makes the proposed code easier to review and gives you a clear success condition.
Provide the right context
Tell the assistant that the target is MQL5 for MT5. Supply the relevant function, input definitions and expected behaviour, subject to your licence and the tool’s data policy. Remove account identifiers, credentials and unrelated private files. You usually do not need to paste an entire project to explain one small change.
Review the proposed change
Ask for an explanation and a minimal diff. Verify unfamiliar function names against the MQL5 Reference. Watch for MQL4-style calls, unhandled return values and changes outside your brief. Read the modified logic before compiling it; successful compilation checks syntax and types, not the complete trading intention.
Build a short feedback loop
- Save the unchanged working baseline.
- Compile the edited copy and resolve diagnostics.
- Run the original and edited versions with the same test inputs.
- Inspect the intended difference and any unexpected trades.
- Check the result on a demo account before deciding on live use.
