MQL5 WebRequest error 5203: separate network and code problems
When an external request fails, separate the destination, terminal permissions, execution environment and request construction. A web page opening in a browser does not prove that the EA’s request used the same path successfully.
Check where the code runs
WebRequest has platform restrictions, including availability in the Strategy Tester. Confirm that your attempted test is supported before changing certificates or the endpoint. Do not weaken HTTPS verification to make an error disappear.
Reduce to a minimal request
Use a harmless public endpoint and record return value, GetLastError, headers and response length. Keep credentials out of shared logs. Compare the terminal build and the time at which the behaviour changed.
Look at both sides
If you control the server, inspect whether the request arrived. No arrival suggests a different investigation from an HTTP rejection with a response body. Retrying rapidly can introduce rate limits and obscure the first failure.
Use reports as leads
Recent community reports can help identify a reproducible version issue, but a forum post is not proof that every installation has the same defect. Record your own minimal reproduction before changing the EA’s trading logic.
