XAUUSD, GOLD or XAUUSD+: match an EA to your broker symbol

Brokers use different names for gold and other instruments. A strategy attached to XAUUSD+ can still request XAUUSD internally if its symbol input is hard-coded. The chart label alone does not prove which symbol every function uses.

Find the available instrument

Open Market Watch and inspect the broker’s exact symbol name. Check contract size, price precision, trading hours and minimum volume. Similar names can identify different account offerings.

Inspect the symbol input

Use the EA’s documented chart-symbol option if it has one. Otherwise enter the exact symbol requested by the guide. Do not rename a symbol in a settings file without understanding related multi-symbol inputs.

Check a short run

Read the initialisation log and the first trade request. Confirm that history and indicators are loading for the intended symbol. If no data arrives, solve the symbol selection problem before modifying the entry rule.

Customise the mapping cleanly

Editable source makes symbol mapping visible. Prefer one clearly defined mapping used by quotes, indicators and trade requests, so a later broker move does not require scattered text replacements.
